IMPORTANT NOTICE UPDATE
Highfield Dental Practice Remains Open- National Lockdown Announcement 31st October 2020
This evening Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a second national lockdown due to the rising number of cases of Covid-19.
Highfield Dental Practice will still be open. There are no restrictions with regards to dental treatment and you are actively encouraged to keep your appointments. At Highfield Dental we have all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will continue to follow our high standards in cross infection control.
Please continue to attend your appointments. We have excellent infection control procedures along with a robust triaging policy to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.
If you are worried about your attendance please contact us to discuss your concerns and we can always postpone your treatment till a later date.
We continue to recommend that patients in the high-risk category delay non-essential treatment until further guidance has been given by the relevant authorities.
When you arrive:
We advise that you wear a mask at all times while inside the dental practice and only remove your mask at the request of the dental professional. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for an appointment due to social distancing guidelines.
As you enter the building you will need to use the alcohol disinfectant rub to disinfectant your hands.
The treatment rooms will be prepared prior to your appointment with all surfaces disinfected after each patient. We have sourced PPE and unlike the start of the Pandemic (March 2020 in the UK), there is no shortage.
Please do not be concerned as we continue to maintain high standards of cross infection control.
Stay safe and please contact us if you have any questions.
Before re-opening we will contact you to get familiar with your symptoms or dental problems and undertake a pre-attendance assessment over the phone. This will include your medical history, personal details and other consent forms. (samples of these can be forwarded to you electronically, via e-mail, if you would like to peruse them prior to your appointment).
This information will be processed by our reception team to assess the individual risk factors and whenever possible an appointment will be prepared for you to attend the practice.
We will courtesy call you the day before your appointment at the practice to confirm that you are still well and able to attend the practice and answer any questions you may have prior to your appointment.
Please be aware that we will first book in all the dental emergencies which accumulated during lockdown. A reduced amount of dentists will work on a day with their team and a rotation system will assure that a dentist is available for you.
In the surgery
You will be covered by an apron and we will request that you rinse with the mouthwash provided. The dental team will look a bit different as we will be evenmore covered up using our PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) but please don’t worry we are making the environment as safe as we possibly can for you.
We will ask you to wait outside or in your car until we contact you by phone. This will avoid any waiting time within the practice. You will be greeted by one of our dental team keeping the 2m safety distance and we require you to sanitise your hands and to place gloves provided on at the entrance of the practice and please bring your own face covering. Your temperature will be assessed at the entrance. Our staff will follow these protocols and their temperature will also be monitored on a daily basis.
Please bring your own pen to sign the completed medical history and consent forms before you enter the surgery.
After the treatment
After the treatment you will be guided out of the practice.
All payments will be electronically taken before the appointment or over the phone after your treatment in exceptional circumstances.
Please do not enter the practice without an appointment and do not enter the waiting room. The bannisters, door handles and other surfaces will be disinfected meticulously and regularly.
This policy and procedure document will be updated as necessitated by circumstances over the next few months
